Now this is just fucking silly.
If you’re like me, I’m sure that you are familiar with the Rock-afire Explosion, the animatronic all-animal “house band” that performed musical selections at Showbiz Pizza. As a child, I attended (and even had) numerous birthday parties at Showbiz, and I fondly remember Billy Bob the Bear and his band rocking out with a selection of then-current pop, rock, and even country. (Remember, I grew up in Tennessee.)
But I’d never in a million years think that I’d get to see Billy Bob and the gang cover Usher and Young Jeezy. Until now.
Rock-afire aficionado Chris Thrash, who owns one of the last remaining functional animatronic Rock-afire Explosion bands, figured a way to hack the band’s computer interface and program any music he wanted into a show. He initially used Bubba Sparxxx’s hit “Ms. New Booty,” but — long story short — the latest video utilizes Usher’s “Love in This Club,” featuring Young Jeezy.
As I said, silly.
Despite the song’s objectionable content (e.g., the N-word), the result of Thrash’s efforts have won the approval of Rock-afire creator Aaron Fetcher, and it appears the two are looking to parlay the band’s resurging popularity into some kind of television program.
Thanks to The Detroit News and Defamer for the scoop.
