This past Wednesday, my boys Baysiqly and E.R., known to hip-hop aficionados as The Vagabonds, released their latest music video for the new single “Predictions.”
The video’s concept is very cool, and somewhat similar to the idea behind Mike Figgis‘ experimental film Timecode; the screen is divided into quarters and features shots of E.R. and Baysiqly going about their usual daily routine before meeting up at Nicaraguan eatery Yambo Fritanga in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
Since it’s a music video, though, it’s all about the music. The song is a Baysiqly solo, and the MC waxes philosophical about The Vagabonds’ current status and future in the hip-hop game over E.R.’s funky, Willie Hutch-inspired production.
“Predictions” was originally on The Vagabonds’ Good Neighbors album, but now the fellas have secured digital distribution through Island/Def Jam Records, making the single available (for just 99¢) at retailers like iTunes, Amazon, Napster, and Rhapsody.
“Predictions” was directed by Giancaro Loffredo of Mupalia Pictures.
