The Week in Cool 11-9-08

socialexperimentAutumn is such a wonderful time of year! The falling temperatures, the leaves changing color, the shift from summer to winter clothes. I can finally order hot cocoa and not be looked at like a frickin’ lunatic. I’m lovin’ it, like a cheesy McDonald’s ad campaign.

November has particularly gotten off to a good start. I’ve been working on new projects, got some things in the pipeline, and I’m finally gaining some semblance of stability. The past week has been an historic one, as you all should know. So for me, it’s been gratifying on both a large and small scale. Here’s what went down and what was cool this past week:

Tina Fey + Martin Scorsese = Comedy Gold … or Platinum!

Here are the two Tina Fey/Martin Scorsese American Express commercials that aired during last night’s politically neutered Emmy Awards. I didn’t watch the awards, so I didn’t get to see my favorite television program, 30 Rock, take home its four awards, but it’s reassuring to know that sometimes those that are truly deserving win.

What are you doing with that cornbread behind the middle school??

I wanna take you behind the middle school! As many of you know, 30 Rock is one of the only television programs I can be arsed to watch. (The other is the equally phenomenal and funny Entourage.) Fans of the show will get the reference right away, and it certainly grabbed my attention. I’m only disappointed that I didn’t think to register that domain first. :(

In other 30 Rock news, the 2nd season DVD will be out in October, coming with an ass of extras. Make sure to cop that mug. The origins of “pregnant cornbread” after the jump. Continue reading

Hello Brooklyn 2.0

As you can tell from the pic of me to the right, wearing my TGS with Tracy Jordan t-shirt that I love so much, I finally made the move … actually, I made the move about a month ago, but hey. It was time to leave my aunt’s house in East New York. Don’t get me wrong, I loved staying there, I appreciated the fact that she and my uncle put me up for a few months. Buuuuut, I’m still a young man. With the needs, desires, and dreams of a young man. And, to put it mildly, the living arrangement was cramping a brother’s style.

So, thanks to the homie Sheila G (who’s been AWOL for the past few), I was able to score a nice little pad over in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill nabe. Pics and stuff after the jump. Continue reading
