The Week in Cool 11-2-08

Though I promised more, I still gave less this week. For that, I apologize. It’s been insane, just like the Huck Gee Dunny (see right). So much has been happening for me recently, I’ve been neglecting y’all. But the stuff I did post about:

• I need Audrey Hepburn and the Rat Pack hanging on my wall.
• You will no longer get lost meeting your Craigslist bootie call.
• Unfortunately, torture porn is not dead.
• It’s Zuul, not Gozer.
• Already I’m over 2500 words into NaNoWriMo!
• Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel reunited.
• Sadly, the loss of an inspiration to many.

Halloween was fucked for me, so there are no pics, even though I did wear my costume all day. Ah well. Feeling good since I’ve started my NaNoWriMo project and I’m still working on the latest script, which I’ve been procrastinating on. Shout out to the W!ldbrain crew, oh, and make sure you get your asses out and vote, motherfuckers! Holler!

It’s NaNoWriMo, Bitches!

That’s right, today, November 1st, 2008, is the first day of National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for those connoisseurs of syllabic abbreviation.

But what exactly is NaNoWriMo, you ask? It’s a “guerilla novel writing” initiative, one to help motivate lazy people such as myself to sit down and hammer out that idea for a book that we’ll start “one day.” As their website says, “NaNoWriMo is all about the magical power of deadlines. Give someone a goal and a goal-minded community and miracles are bound to happen.”

The idea is to write a 50k-word novel from scratch in a month’s time. Because if you’re limited on time, you’ll focus on cranking that book out rather than on endless self-editing.

ScriptGirl Report 9-20-08

Let me tell you guys something. I do what I do because I love it. Whether I’m writing scripts or posting on this blog, in the kitchen cooking or teaching blind kids how to play kickball, I do it because I care enough to invest the time and energy. That also includes posting SG‘s weekly reports. They’re informative, they’re funny, and SG is definitely easy on the eyes.

While I’m sure her YouTube channel and MySpace page get many more hits than my blog, I still feel this is an effective way to disseminate information that’s useful to all interested in what’s going on in Hollywood. I’m not doing it for propers or popularity.

So when I saw that I’d been replied to in a post I made on one of SG’s videos, it was pretty darn heartwarming to see who’d written me and what they’d said.

Duly noted, SG. I appreciate you as well. Thanks for the info and the friendship.

ScriptGirl Report 9-5-08

Yerp. I’m late with it. It was one of those weekends. Got hammered. Spent money on food instead of cooking. Watched (and was slightly disappointed by) the VMAs and the season premiere of Entourage. Argued with my homegirl about whether or T-Pain is making classic music. Shit, man, I’m barely coherent at this point. But whatevs, here is SG, to make all right in the world with her latest report.
