Bust a move.
We all love Alexyss K. Tylor. Hell, I know I do. She burst into pop culture consciousness thanks to her infamous “Penis Power” video, and her frank views on sex, love, lust, and the like have made this woman into something of an icon.
So in this latest video clip, Alexyss and company were discussing the age-old topic of “young men and old women fuckin’.” What bon mots did Alexyss share with us? Well, before she could really dig deep into the topic with her cohorts, the cameraman gave his opinion on the matter. Using the example of Whitney Houston and Ray J, he went on to describe the pop diva as Brandy’s brother’s “bust it baby.” He then made the mistake of saying who he wouldn’t mind having as his bust it baby: Continue reading
With their upcoming film The Princess and the Frog, Walt Disney Pictures is making a return to classic hand-drawn animation. And, get this, the film’s central character is an African-American princess. Let me say that again, African-American princess. Is Hollywood beginning to show signs of progressive thinking when it comes to its characters and stories?
Maybe. Maybe not.
Some posit that the appearance of a toothless firefly with a Cajun accent hints at Song of the South-style characterization. Then again, it’s only a teaser trailer, and in my humble opinion, this seems to be a huge step in a positive direction. The jazz-era musical is set in New Orleans, and is written and directed by the folks that brought us The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, two certified Disney classics, so I’ve got high hopes. Holler at the jump to catch the teaser. Continue reading

When Aqua released the totally fucking awesome Aquarium back in ’97, I was working at Spec’s Music, across from the University of Miami campus. My pop culture sensibilities served me well at the job, and I think a lot of Coral Gables’ white residents were quite surprised at my music and cinema knowledge.
In any case, one of the most popular songs at the time was Aqua’s “Barbie Girl.” Surprisingly, a lot of people had no idea that was the name of the group and, not so surprisingly, many of my co-workers at the time were clueless, so I was usually the one to steer customers in the right direction. The album itself was cool, a fun collection of Danish-Norweigian pop. And while most people bought the album for, and only listened to, “Barbie Girl,” my favorite song was “Happy Boys and Girls.” Enjoy this little gem via video (complete with lyrics!) after the jump.
Thirty-six passengers of a Greyhound bus travelling from Edmonton to Winnipeg Wednesday night watched in horror as a fellow passenger reportedly stabbed another man sleeping next to him, eventually decapitating him and waving the man’s severed head. “When we saw the head, we knew he was dead,” [passenger Garnet Caton] said. “I don’t think the guy knew him at all. I think he was really crazy … the poor guy, he didn’t see it coming.”
Angelina Jolie is hot. Black women are hot. Ergo, Angelina Jolie is a black woman. Well, that’s what Hollywood seems to think, at least.
Before its film adaptation was released earlier this summer, I’d never heard of the comic series Wanted. So it was a shock to discover that Fox, Jolie’s character, was black in the comics. But after doing a little more research, I found that the filmmakers were deviating from the source material. And besides, roles like this should be color-blind, right? Continue reading

Now he's the best mayne. He did it.
I am at a loss for words.
The good folks over at It’s An Infinite Cycle have unearthed yet another Iron Mic freestyle battle, this time between two gentlemen vying for the title of “Santa Claus of the Iron Mic.” I shit you not.
For those of you unfamiliar with Iron Mic, click here to witness the classic freestyle battle featuring YouTube rap legend Eli Porter, a rapper unjustly robbed of his clear victory against Envy by the judges. And fans of Marv-O will be very happy. The original “touchy feely” Iron Mic host makes a glorious return, this time as a judge. Check out the video after the jump. Continue reading
Well, maybe not. But it’s up there.
It’s a bit old — it was posted all the way back in June … JUNE!! — but the listing is still active under Craigslist’s Best, and no matter how you look at it, it’s still funny. Such few words, such few details, but they convey a melodrama worthy of Sirk.
The players: Josh, who obvs has connection with “the frat house,” and the woman he knocked up. That’s right, Josh. She’s as pregnant as some cornbread. And apparently she had no other choice but to reach out to you via the very public forum that is Craigslist. Screen cap of the post after the jump. Continue reading
