Aaron Sorkin to Write “Facebook: The Movie” For Oscar-Winning Producer

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, innit? I seriously think this will strip The Dark Knight of its title as most anticipated movie evar.

I am talking, of course, about Facebook: The Movie. (Or, as writer/producer Aaron Sorkin calls it, The Facebook Movie.) The mind grapes over at /Film got the scoop:

Writer Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) has joined Facebook. More importantly, he’s created a Facebook group where it’s announced he’s penning Facebook: The Movie for mega-producer Scott Rudin (No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood).

This is not a joke.

Man, you gotta look at the talent involved. Scott Rudin is an Oscar-winning producer. You ever heard of a movie called No Country For Old Men? Yeah, he produced that junt. Ever heard of a small film named There Will Be Blood? Yeah, he was an executive producer on that bad boy.

And Aaron Sorkin?? Good Lord, just check the resume. A Few Good Men, The West Wing, The American President. (We don’t count Studio 60, around these parts — this is 30 Rock country, fam.) The man’s been nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes, for cryin’ out loud!

So there’s no doubt in my mind that Facebook: The Movie (or The Facebook Movie) will be a compelling piece of cinema, a pre-ordained critical darling destined for box office success. I feel I’ve been SuperPoked by the cinematic gods!

  1. When I see a story like this, I wonder if Sorkin is back on the magic mushrooms.
