Music: RPM’s 28 Day Recording Challenge

Music: RPM's 28 Day Recording Challenge

“Don’t wait for inspiration—taking action puts you in a position to get inspired.”

That’s the advice given to aspiring musicians who are thinking of participating in the annual RPM Challenge, now in its fifth year. The concept is similar to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) only it involves, natch, music: record a 10-song album (or one that’s 35 minutes in length) in 28 days. Recording can only be done during the month of February.

And like NaNoWriMo, there’s no actual prize aside from the satisfaction of completing your project within the allotted time frame. You can, however, send your songs to RPM and they will post them on the website’s jukebox for the world to hear.

A ton of my friends are musical artists, and though I know they have a shit-ton of projects they’re already working on, I think it’d be cool to see them participate in this.

For more information, holler at rpmchallenge.com. Shout to Brian Grosz of Lapdance Academy for the heads up.
