Proof that, once again, I am doing something absolutely wrong with my life, news has it that celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has snagged a deal with Celebra Children’s Books to publish a book entitled The Boy With Pink Hair.
According to Hilton, the book will “[celebrate] individuality and self-acceptance.” It’s set for publication in September with a first run of 75,000 copies.
Celebra Children’s Books publisher Raymond Garcia said, “The Boy with Pink Hair is a defining story about how believing in yourself and following your aspirations can not only bring out the best in you, but also in those around you. With fun, colorful and endearing characters, Perez reminds readers that by simply accepting our differences we can find the things that unite us all.”
I can’t be too mad that Hilton has this opportunity, and it appears that he’s dealing with a subject that is not only relevant but necessary. So kudos to him for doing something that, for once, isn’t completely ratchet.
Celebra Children’s Books is working with Penguin Young Readers Group on this project.
