This is totally random, but whatever. This is what the kids refer to as GPOY … I think.
I’m up, reading, writing, blogging, et cetera, but I need some ambient background noise or else I cannot concentrate. Some days, music will do; others, I need movie dialogue in the bee-gee.
Well, this morning I’m popping Jackie Brown into the PS3. If you didn’t know already (and really you should know this by now), Jackie Brown is my favorite Quentin Tarantino film. It’s simply brilliant and criminally underrated. And if I’m not mistaken, it’s the only one of his films not available on Blu-Ray.
Harvey, what the fuck are you doing, man?
In fact, I don’t think this disc was released until five years after Jackie Brown‘s 1997 theatrical release. For those who care, the DVD includes an hour-long retrospective interview with Tarantino, a half-hour making-of documentary (“How It Went Down”), the entire “Chicks Who Love Guns” video as seen in the movie, many deleted and alternate scenes, Siskel and Ebert‘s review of the movie, Jackie Brown appearances on MTV, TV spots and theatrical trailers, written reviews and articles and filmographies, and over an hour of trailers for Pam Grier and Robert Forster movies dating from the 1960s onwards. Very dope.
So Jackie Brown will be the ambient noise of the day. And if you’re interested in copping the DVD, you can do so at Amazon.
Have you seen Jackie Brown? What’s your opinion of it? Where does it rank for you in Tarantino’s filmography? LMK below.
