Lots of Black folks, myself included, have been worried about Quentin Tarantino’s treatment of slavery-era America in his upcoming film Django Unchained. Unlike with his previous releases, I was unable to get my hands on the screenplay when it was available online so I had no idea what to expect.
Well, the first trailer for the film premiered last week, attached to the release of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi action horror flick Prometheus. And after watching it, and rewatching it, and rewatching it again, I gotta say … I’m looking forward to Django Unchained.

I am a huge Quentin Tarantino fan (even if my opinion that his best films are Jackie Brown and Death Proof are in the minority) but it is with great trepidation I await his upcoming Django Unchained.
The film stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell and Leonardo DiCaprio, and tells the story of Django, a freed slave who treks across America with a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter to rescue Django’s wife Broomhilda from a charming but sadistic plantation owner.
Yes, it’s Kill Bill set during those awful days of American slavery.

Jamie Foxx’s latest video, “Blame It (On The Alcohol),” featuring T-Pain, premiered on BET’s 1-0-Shits & Snark recently, and I gotta say, it’s fuckin’ doozy. Featuring Hollywood heavyweights Samuel L. Jackson, Forest Whitaker, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ron motherfucking Howard, and directed by Hype Williams, the clip is a throwback to when music videos were simple yet sexy and fun. Not even T-Pain’s coon antics could bring this one down. Although I have to wonder, is Nuvo really something a man is supposed to drink? I’m just sayin’.
Peep the video after the jump.
